Technology Selling Career Program

I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the beginning of 2013 with the hopes of getting into sales.  I knew that I had what it took, but I soon learned that it was easier said than done.  One thing that my military experience helped me do was to get security jobs.  This was enough to help me get by—just barely.  However, security work wasn’t what I wanted to do, and it didn’t take advantage of what I felt I could contribute.  My fellow veterans felt the same frustration.  Two years later, after completing my university studies, I was still having trouble getting to where I wanted to be.   I knew that my seven years in the Army and National Guard as an Infantryman had instilled in me qualities that civilian employers would value, but my lack of experience proved to be a deal breaker—and I had no way to bridge the gap.   I had landed interviews and I was always told I did great, but I was always the runner up for lack of experience.

The Technology Selling Career Launch Program offered through Veterans2Work by AlwaysHired helped me bridge the gap, by providing me the right mix of formal training, hands-on exposure, one-on-one coaching that gave me exactly what I needed to launch the sales career I’d dreamed of having.  In my last week of the Technology Selling Boot Camp I received an offer as a Sales Development Representative for a leading Bay Area software company.   I accepted the job and expect to earn 25% more in my first year there than I was able to make in in any other job.  More importantly, I now have a real future.

I highly recommend the Technology Selling program.  The instructors are awesome.  This is great opportunity for fellow veterans looking to jump start a great career in technology sales.  Working in entry level sales is a great way to get your foot in the door of a company that can lead to many more internal opportunities.
